Opinion Writing at the University of Houston is written by assistant professor Michael Berryhill for his class, Comm. 4310. He  will post assignments, commentaries and links as the semester progresses.

Berryhill began teaching at UH in fall 2006 after more than 25 years as a newspaper and magazine writer and editor. He has written news, features and done investigative reporting for several publications, including the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Houston Chronicle, Houston City Magazine, the Houston Press, the New Republic and the New York Times Sunday magazine. 

He has written many book reviews, reviewed art   for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reviewed theater for the Houston Press, and for three years served as fine arts editor for the Houston Chronicle, where he supervised the work of  the music, art, theater and dance critics. 

He is writing a book about Texas prisons.
